Getting to know:
Emerson And Donna Green
Donna
was born on Green Street in Salt Lake City Utah, January 20, 1929 to Pearl and
Wallace Webb. She had one brother, Bill who was four years older. As a little
girl she and her brother loved Green Street. They enjoyed the families and the
great times they had on that street, including the special activities in the
LDS Ward they attended. Then they moved to Californina.
Donna
loved to draw. She started to draw when she was 12 years old. When she was in
sixth grade she was a part of drawing a large mural inside the Marshall school.
She
enjoyed playing sports such as Volleyball and Softball. She worked on the high
school newspaper as the publicity manager. She graduated from Haywood High. One
of the jobs she had was she use to work in the hospital preparing trays for
people to eat. She moved back to Utah to attend BYU and later meet her
wonderful husband.
Emerson
was born in Driggs, Idaho on January 21, 1928 to Harriet and Charles Green. He
was one of five brothers. Emerson loved to go fishing and play sports. He
graduated from high school in Driggs and went into the Navy.
An interesting note is Donna and Emerson are
the same age on Donna's birthday but the next day, January 21st he is a year
older than her. Donna loved living on Green Street, and maybe that's why she
married her wonderful husband, Emerson Green.
They
met at Brigham Young University after he was released from the Medical Core,
and he and his friend came to watch the girls come out of the Girl's Dorm. Her
friend, Jean Emerson, and herself were coming down the dorm stairs when his
friend saw Donna and called them over. He told Emerson he'd walked with her
from lower to upper campus and he was going to call her over to ask her to go
on a date. Which he did.
They
double dated with Emerson and one of the girls from Driggs Idaho. She kept
thinking Emerson Green and Jean Emerson ought to get together, so she
encouraged Jean not to take a date for the street dance that was coming up
soon, so she could introduce them. At the street dance, both Emerson and his
friend came to talk with them. Then Emerson asked them if they could take them
out for something to eat, and Jean said "Yes," but Emerson asked
Donna out later that night. Donna and Emerson Green were married in the Salt
Lake Temple on September 7, 1949. She loved to sew and made her own wedding
dress.
They
had one son and four daughters. Both Emerson and Donna taught School. She was a
Reading Specialist at Freemont high and Emerson was an athletic coach. They
were called on a couple's mission to San Jose, California for the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Emerson and Donna moved to the Seville in
Aug. 2011. Emerson is now a 6' 5" worn out athlete, with lots of medical
problems. They have a wonderful family who lives close by. They appreciate
living in the Seville and are so greatful for the wonderful staff and the
people who live there. "Looking through rose colored glasses makes life
more fun and so much easier. I recommend that vantage point to you."
