An article

Hey everyone!!! Sorry its been awhile I've been a busy busy little bee with a lot of new projects. I am now writing articles about the lives of the older folks at the Seville Retirement home where I volunteer every Saturday as Bingo lady. I would like to post some of my work every time I do an article. These people have such amazing lives that are worth sharing about and one of these days I plan on writing a screenplay about them. Enjoy!!!

Norma and Jack Windley
This month we are proud to spotlight Norma and Jack Windley. They are a wonderful couple who live life to the fullest, and bless the lives of many with their beautiful spirits.
Norma Black was born December 3 1924 in Richfield Utah, to her parents Terah and Elna Black. She had three brothers and two sisters.  One of Norma's favorite memories was on Christmas morning she would go down to the tree before the others would awake to see what Santa had brought. Then in her excitement she would go to her two older brothers, wake them up, and tell them that Santa came.
When Norma was about six or seven she remembers going up to Puffer's Lake in Beaver with her family and her mother's sister and her one daughter. They would play in the water and enjoy each others company. Since Norma's father worked so hard they hardly took vacations, which makes the memory more memerable. On her sixteenth birthday Norma and some friends went driving around in an old Ford having fun. When she came home that night her mother had surprised her by making her favorite meal for dinner. She wished she had come home earlier and not stayed out so late. Norma was married at eighteen to her first husband on July 12 1943. They had five children, three boys and two girls. Norma and her husband moved to Portland Oregon, bought and took care of a motel in 1970 then sold it in 1979 to move back to provo to take care of her mother. In 2000 her husband fell ill with a bad heart, and passed away November 27 2001. One peice of advice she gives is, "have more patients with your kids and don't be so strict. Enjoy the day and the moments you have."
Jack Windley was born October 6 1933 in Ogden Utah. He had two sisters and four brothers. His father was in construction so they moved all around in Utah. He spent most of his childhood in Springville. When he was about seven or eight he remembers going up to Puffer's Lake. They would camp right down by the water and his favorite part was watching the deer come down to the water to graze. One of his favorite memories was going hunting and fishing with his dad and brother Lawrence. They would go up Payson canyon on horseback and go elk hunting. When he was eighteen he remembers getting his first car. It was a 49' Ford that he loved to drive around. Jack married his first wife Carol, and had one daughter. Jack worked as a superintendent in the water and sewer department at the Springville golf course. He enjoyed his job everyday. On August 27 2004 his wife, Carol, passed away. His advice he shares is be patient and caring.
In 2004 four months after Jack's first wife passed away, Norma and Jack met playing cards at the Springville Senior Center. The first time they met Norma was asking where she could get some window hooks for her screens, and Jack said he had some so he ran home and came back with six. Norma thought he was very sweet and a good guy for doing that for her. The first time Jack asked Norma out was after she returned home from a cruise down the Panama Canal. It was early Monday and he called to ask her to go to breakfast. She agreed and they arranged to eat at Denny's. They didn't want anyone to know they were dating but when they sat down to eat they sat right across from a couple they knew from the center, but no one found out until Christmas when they went to see the lights and sat next to each other.
Jack knew that he loved Norma the moment he saw her so around Thanksgiving he called her up on the phone and asked if she wanted to go to Disneyland with him and his family. She declined. Then he told her he had two questions for her. He asked her to marry him, and then asked her to go to Disneyland. Norma said yes but told him he had to meet her kids. Jack met with all her family in December. They were so happy for them. They filled eachothers lives with happiness and love. They were married on January 8 2005 and have been married going on 7 wonderful years. Life is meant to live for all the small moments that take our breath away, so we can look back and say we have truly lived, and these two have done just that and still are to this day. May the rest of their days be spent sharing their wonderful stories for all to hear, and enjoying every moment.
