Library Adventures: Battle for Kingdom Lydia

My dearest readers! Its seems I have found myself down on my knees again begging for forgiveness for not keeping my blog updated. I have no excuse and no words to back up my procrastination and laziness. But here goes nothing....hopefully this little tid bit will be a little step in the right direction, to earn your forgiveness for this much overdo updated piece of work to one of my novels I am still working on. Enjoy!!

"And when did I ever?" Shaylee argued. Alex frowned and shook his head.
"The moment you chose to take his side." Shaylee could feel her mouth go dry and her stomach churn. Was he always going to act this way, cynical, depressed, and angry? How many times can you apologize for a mistake before the guilt and punishment wore off. Perhaps never she thought.
"When are you going to let it go? I made a mistake, I was under an evil trance, I'm sorry!" Shaylee moved past Alex to catch up to the others and avoid the evil words that were ready to spill out of her mouth. Alex grabbed her wrist and whipped her around to face him. His stare was cold and menacing and his breath was unsteady. He squeezed her arm tighter.
"You almost killed my brother and your friend, just to satisfy your selfish pleasure to gain popularity and power, and to feed the green monster of hate and jealousy within," he seethed through his gritted teeth. Shaylee yanked her arm free as the vile words readied the release of the flood gates. Her eyes stung as the hurtful words broke down her barriers of strength.
"I love your brother and I would nev..." Shaylee stopped and turned her head to listen. In the distance she could hear what sounded like two large bed sheets that someone was simultaneously flapping up and down over and over again. That sound, she thought...I've heard it before.
"Did you hear what I said?" Alex spouted frustrated. "SSSHHHH!" Shaylee hushed him. The swishing sound reverberated off the canyon walls, making it hard to pin point the exact location the sound was coming from.
"What are you...?" Alex stopped in mid sentence. Shaylee could tell he could hear the sound too. The look of concern formed on his face, and he stood quietly by her side flicking his head in all directions like Shaylee, trying frantically to locate the direction the sound was coming from. Lillian and Nick ran to their side with a look of confusion on their face.
"What is that sound?" Lillian questioned. Nick squirmed uneasily. "That is the sound of pure evil," Alex frowned. "And death," Nick added. The flapping sound grew to a deafening roar as a dark shape blocked out the sun above them and landed on the cliff to their left. The earth quaked under their feet and an avalanche of rock cascaded down the side of the mountain.
"It...its a dragon," Shaylee whispered her voice trembling. The massive creature perched on the ledge of the canyon wall arching its neck and crouched in a battle stance. Under the suns rays its black scales looked metallic, like it was dressed in armor from its head to its tail. his barbed serpentine tail hung over the ledge, scrapping the rock with its barbs as if it was sharpening them and preparing them as weapons for battle. Its glowing lime green lizard like eyes fixed their cold and calculating stare on the group. The creature was surveying its next move. Its widget shaped head lowered and its mouth opened slightly to expose its sharp teeth and snake like tongue. The dragon let out a low guttural roar. Shaylee took a step backwards, closer to Lillian, and held her breath so she wouldn't scream and trigger the attack. With Shaylee's movement the dragon stepped forward to the ledge gripping its razor sharp talons deeper in to the mountain side. Its bat like wings furrowed behind its head ready for its que to dismount and attack.
"Stop moving," Alex hissed.
